The theme used for several years on this website (WP-Prosperity) is no longer supported by the developer. It was an excellent theme and provided me a writing platform for these posts.

The bad news is that this theme also sheltered me from new theme developments in WordPress. Hence, I am going to have to learn a new theme or eventually discontinue this site. I am not sure how difficult it will be to develop a new site. In the meantime, new posts will be very limited and the website will attempt to limp along with the current, but unsupported theme. If the site looks different the next time you visit, that means I am attempting to change it to a new theme.

This is only for Golfers, and any relationship to the hypocrisy of any political party is purely coincidental.

I am a member of golf’s lower 99%.

I am an indifferent golfer, and there’s no way I could ever make it to the professional level. I will never put in the practice time to be the best.  I will never have the shots, skills, or mental toughness to “make it” in the sport.  I just never felt like working all that hard at it.

However, I am a part of the golfing community and, as such, feel I should be paid by the top 1% of golfers for what I do.  It isn’t fair that those players who have worked harder, have studied the game, have better equipment and are more skilled and dedicated should make all that BIG money.

Where’s my share? I’m a Victim here!  The top 1% should pay for my club memberships, green fees, lessons and buy me new clubs, balls, clothes and shoes, and pay me some of their winnings.  They can afford it. They are “The Rich.” The whole system should be changed to redistribute their wealth to accommodate people like me.

I propose that those of us in Golf’s bottom 99 % should get together and occupy a golf course, and demand that those who are better at what they do than we are, pay for us who generally suck at the game.

Whining should get us something – maybe we’ll make the cover of Time Magazine, garnish some public sympathy.  Hell, during this election year we may even get a law or two passed by legislators who want our votes.

Remember:  GOLF LIVES MATTER !

Hayek and Cuomo? That is Friedrich Hayek and Andrew Cuomo. These names are rarely mentioned together. But here they are in the same phrase! In terms of opposites they rival “North versus South,” “Good versus Evil,” “Genius versus Idiot”, “Substance vs. Fluff,”etc. One is to the other as matter is to anti-matter.

Brad Polumbo used Hayek and Cuomo in a pre-review of Andrew Cuomo’s forthcoming book on leadership during the coronavirus crisis. Yes, you read that right! Cuomo believes he can convince people that he showed great leadership addressing New York state’s coronavirus problems. It is difficult to know whether this reflects Cuomo’s intelligence or how stupid he believes New Yorkers are.

The unnecessary tragedies associated with his Nursing Home decisions would make an honorable man ask for forgiveness. Japanese commit hari-kari over lesser things.

Apparently, Cuomo believes he can capitalize on his tragic decisions by hawking his brilliant decision-making skills. What is going on here? A normal man would stay in the shadows or at least admit his mistake(s).

Assuming the book is not meant to jump-start a new career as a comedian, why would Cuomo not keep a low profile and then decide not to run for office when that time came. Perhaps he intends to pass the unnecessary deaths off as a contribution to society. Killing older people is not too different than killing unborn children (a sin for Mr. Cuomo as a declared Catholic but not for him as a Democrat politician). Maybe his brilliance of killing elderly can be marketed as some patriotic cost-saving measure designed to reduce Social Security deficits and other welfare costs.

The audacity of this man apparently is boundless. Perhaps Andrew is dumber than his little brother, Chris, or his fellow Democrat genius, Bill de Blasio, the neutron bomb of New York City. Mario Cuomo, the father and a previous King of New York State, hid his IQ under a thick layer of self-righteousness. Perhaps Andrew and his brother Chris (Fredo) never received a full set of his genes. Clearly, both act like the father but not nearly as well. Mario’s “acting gene” apparently was diluted when passed on.

But I digress. Mr. Polumbo’s real message is highlighting the contrast between private and public character. He uses Hayek who described the character of public servants almost 80 years ago and Cuomo to illustrate Hayek’s case:

New York has one of the largest governments of any states in the country. From sky-high taxes to soda bans, it has overwhelmingly voted for statist policies. And, as economist Friedrich A. Cuomo’s rise and New York’s COVID-19 saga prove Hayek right and leaves us with a clear lesson: So long as we entrust massive amounts of power to the government, we will continue to unintentionally place our fate in the hands of the worst among us. However, by leaving more of our problems to be solved by the private sector and civil society, we can ensure that true innovators and moral leaders are the ones leading us forward.

Mr Cuomo is an easy target given his insatiable need for attention. In that regard he is not different from other politicians of either party. Most are all form and no substance. Pretense is the coin of their realm. Their pretend world is without objectives or benchmarks other than garnering votes. Truth is an enemy and mostly banned from their political pitches.

Action or accomplishment is dangerous. It requires taking a position which risks offending some constituency. Accomplishing nothing is often a safer road to re-election. Power provides the protection for this mediocrity and arrogance. Power and politics is the basis for the accomplishment of nothing other than self-enrichment and aggrandizement.

For Cuomo to have the chutzpah to claim great leadership skills during the Coronavirus pandemic is more than shameful. To us normal citizens, it appears to be a sign of madness. Cuomo asks us to believe his book rather than our own lying eyes. Groucho Marx got laughs with this line but Andrew Cuomo will not.

Sadly, his low opinion of his voters in New York may be correct. How else do you explain him and/or di Blasio?

Socialism kills.

The history of the 20th Century is the sad story of tens of millions of lives lost as a result of Socialism and its proponents. Germany, Russia and China were the biggest offenders.

This history is inconvenient, so is rarely taught in public schools. A generation of students know nothing about the evils of Hitler, Stalin or Mao. If they learned anything about these evil men, they learned nothing about the system that allowed them to impose their atrocities. One may condemn these men but not the totalitarianism that inevitably results from Socialism.

Yet Socialism still kills in the 21st Century. Venezuela, Cuba and other Socialist hell-holes are easily identified. This insidious disease, sought by too many in power,   fails everywhere and produces unnecessary misery. 

It is alive in the United States. One need look no further than major metropolitan areas in our this country. Major Democrat cities that try to implement Socialism make matters worse for the people they supposedly care for. Are our leaders stupid? Or do they not care for those they pretend to serve? 

It is difficult to cite the worst conditions and hell-holes created by Socialism. New York, Baltimore, Chicago and too many others are representative of the evil that results from Socialism.

Look at this YouTube Video of San Francisco.  Until recently it was not wrong to describe it as one of the most beautiful cities in the world. “I Left My Heart in San Francisco” described its charm. Today, a remake of the song would be “I Left My Excrement in San Francisco.”

Now we have a major political party proposing Socialism! Are these people so dumb? Or do they merely believe their supporters are dumb enough to buy their lies?

Frankly, I don’t know most of the people mentioned above. Nor do I care about their particular sexual persuasions or what they do to earn an income. That is, except for one – the Dishonorable Nancy Pelosi. This woman earns her money from US taxpayers, lives very well off us and does nothing about her own district. 

Black lives matter but so does context. Regardless of intent, many people interpret actions differently.  Kneeling during the National Anthem is the ultimate disrespect for many.

The image below, from an unknown source, is a perspective that many see/feel when this nonsense is carried out.

Jocks making social statements (many of whom have been bullied into doing so) are like me pretending that I can bench-press 400 pounds. Many of them have no idea what damage they are doing to themselves, their sport and their cause.

Black lives matter. But when protests go against the country, they are not productive, at least for many of us.

Be assured, I am all for hating your government, but not the country or your fellow citizens. Too many ordinary people (black and white) interpret this situation as depicted above. Hardly a good thing or ultimately a productive thing!

One more observation — notice the title picture of the protests (from Forbes). The composition of this crowd suggests the sign should say White Lives Matter, which of course they do. All Lives Matter! The irony is that this picture has no black participants (at least as far as my aged eyes can discern). Perhaps Kapernick is kneeling at the back.

I am not a medical doctor. However, this video provides what appears to me to be coronavirus common sense.

In recent posts, I have likened the reaction to coronavirus as Impeachment 2.0. That is not to suggest that those vulnerable are not at risk. It merely reflects on the political aspects of the created panic. Apparently, the opposition (and that includes many elected Republicans) do not believe that Donald Trump can be defeated at the ballot box.

Will voter fraud, the coronavirus panic and rioting in the streets be enough to remove Trump? It is obvious that the opposition does not want to depend on ideas, policies or candidates.

If you truly want to see stupidity, just look around you. It is everywhere. However, few examples are as perplexing as NFL stupidity.

NFL stupidity is special! It takes unusual incompetence to destroy something as successful as the NFL.

Perhaps the only thing that compares with NFL stupidity is political stupidity. But that comparison is improper. Political stupidity is mostly imagined.

Most political actions are considered stupid because they rarely achieve the stated goals. The average wage-earner and citizen is made worse off with these failures. But that doesn’t mean they don’t work for the political class. When viewed in this fashion, political actions are not stupid and ineffective. Politicians “fail” while getting richer and re-elected. The citizenry continues to pay more in taxes and lose freedoms.  Is it the politicians who are stupid in this equation?

To be sure, there are politicians who are both ignorant and stupid. Their IQ or common sense is not what gets them elected. But any group of 512 people that enriches themselves by exploiting over 300 million is not stupid, at least not all of them. Political stupidity is rife but it is generally not stupid for the politicians. It seems that way only because you assume they are acting in your interest and that the stated aims of their actions are the true ones. Their “stupidity” is genius once you recognize the divergence between your and their interests.

Political stupidity is brilliance (or evil) disguised. NFL stupidity is just plain, simple stupidity.

Political stupidity has purpose and advances the interests of the political class. NFL stupidity has no redeeming value. It is difficult to imagine beneficiaries.

Is Roger Goodell as stupid as his NFL leadership suggests? Do the owners, rich and successful in other fields, suddenly become stupid once they become owners? Is it possible that there is some arcane tax provision for millionaire football team owners that pays them $2.00 for every dollar they reduce revenues or profits?

The NFL surpassed baseball in popularity this century. It did so with the players, coaches and exciting, fast-paced play. It overcame America’s long love affair with baseball. Football provided heroes to compete against baseball. Players like Babe Ruth and Willie Mays were matched by Jim Brown and Johnny Unitas. Coaches like Lombardi and Belichick arguably surpassed the “genius” of Stengel and Connie Mack.

The NFL had rose to the top in spite of baseball’s long history and interconnectedness with America’s history. Now the NFL seems determined to lose their gains in profits, popularity and respect. Is NFL stupidity the only reason? It seem so.

• * In 2013 the NFL fined Brandon Marshall for wearing green cleats to raise awareness for people with mental health disorders.
• * In 2014 Robert Griffin III (RG3) entered a post-game press conference wearing a shirt that said “Know Jesus Know Peace” but was forced to turn it inside out by an NFL uniform inspector before speaking at the podium.
• * In 2015 DeAngelo Williams was fined for wearing “Find the Cure “eye black for breast cancer awareness.
• * In 2015 William Gay was fined for wearing purple cleats to raise awareness for domestic violence. (Not that the NFL has a domestic violence problem..).
• *In 2016 the NFL prevented the Dallas Cowboys from wearing a decal on their helmet in honor of 5 Dallas Police officers killed in the line of duty.
• * 2016 the NFL threatened to fine players who wanted to wear cleats to commemorate the 15th anniversary of 9/11.

So tell me again how the NFL supports free speech and expression. It seems quite clear based on these facts that the NFL has taken a position against any action by NFL players demonstrating RESPECT for any issue:
For God, social causes such as mental health, cancer, domestic violence, for cops killed arbitrarily, for being cops, or for the Memory of 9/11…

Football used to be a man’s sport. It was on its way to displacing baseball as the American sport. It was raw combat without the deaths of war. It was heroism under pressure.

Now this is all going away. It is becoming a politically correct afternoon of tea. Stupidity cannot be cured in this fashion. Profits cannot be preserved this way. Fans will turn to other activities.

A new coronavirus vaccine has been discovered. It is reportedly 100% effective. Surprisingly, all residents of the United States have already been vaccinated without their knowledge.

This coronavirus vaccine requires about four months to be effective, but it will wipe out all signs of the pandemic.

Scientists are not speaking openly about the breakthrough or the means by which the country was secretly inoculated. Anti-vaccine groups are horrified that such action could be taken without the knowledge of those affected. Preliminary meetings with these groups and Democrats are investigating whether such action, if true, could be an impeachable offense.

Most researchers were surprised by the leak that the coronavirus vaccine may already exist and already have been administered. The breakthrough, according to the unnamed leakers, will be 100% effective on November 4, one day after the election. It will not solve 100% of cases but it will solve 100% of the reporting nonsense. For all practical purposes, concern over the virus will disappear.

Major pharmaceutical companies, searching desperately for a vaccine, were completely blindsided by this leak. Well into their research for this “gold mine” product most were unwilling to comment. Many were skeptical, but all were happy the problem had apparently been solved. No one expressed more pleasure than Dr. Fauci, although he advised that multi-year testing of the new vaccine be done before anything was done to remove the quarantines.

The remedy for the coronavirus is said to have been developed by a special class of scientists known as political scientists. Dr. Fauci, himself a part-time political scientist, suggested these unique researchers should be considered for a Nobel Prize in about ten years, after the efficacy was conclusive.

The official announcement for this news will be reported on April 1. Re-elected president Donald Trump, it is believed, will order all flags to fly at half-mast for the medical industry, the Democrat Party and the Deep State during this announcement.

The fact that this movement has any following makes one think that schools should be closed permanently. If this kind of thinking is the result of schools, get rid of them. Probably a better idea would be to turn them over to local or private entities.

Oh, sorry. The Democrat Party would not allow that. They need to control what you are told. More importantly, doing so might make it possible to escape their plantation (undoubtedly a word that must be erased from the dictionary).

It is appropriate to criticize the bias, intellectual vacuity and dishonesty of our so-called press. But people should realize the press has never been good. It is naive to believe otherwise.

Regarding this point, a perspective from the late 19th Century is revealing:

The press has never been good according to this honest and apparently talented man from 1880. Everything he said still applies, although matters are today are worse. Swinton’s characterization would not have to be changed to describe today’s media. Personally, I would change the term “intellectual prostitutes” by dropping “intellectual.” I might also replace “prostitutes” with “whores.”

The level of ignorance and stupidity of those who claim to be press or media is shocking. There are a few exceptions and one wonders how these people got through the tight filter. A better question might be why they even tried.

Can anyone imagine an H. L. Mencken in today’s media? If he were hired (doubtful) by any major media, could he last more than a day or two? His brilliance and independence would be disqualifying.

To the best of my knowledge, Mencken never went to college. Undoubtedly he considered missing this “opportunity”an advantage.

For journalists, recovery is nearly impossible. Schools of Journalism have never been known for excellence or rigor. (If they existed in Mencken’s day, wouldn’t it be wonderful to have his views on them.) The best and the brightest usually avoid Journalism Schools. In most universities they are considered the bottom of the barrel, standing only ahead of the hapless Schools of Education.

After four years of brainwashing, who needs more in terms of a content-free advanced degree? To obtain the degree, you turn your brain off, memorize the propaganda and then parrot it back. Or you might have a more pleasant experience, being so stupid as to believe you are learning.

The Press has never been Good and now is Stupid or Ignorant

Place the more educated, less learned press of today into a twenty-four hour news cycle and disaster is inevitable. Most have no knowledge of any real subject. They know elocution, make-up application and how to smile when the camera is on. Why would anyone expect them to be able to add insight to any story?

The press has never been good, nor has it ever been this bad. Robots may not be as attractive as these talking heads but they could be programmed to not be as stupid. Corporate giants control the content of the news imposed on the midgets who present it. Again, sounds like a perfect job for robots!

A serious problem is the pact between big media and big government. Fox News, often thought to be a renegade with respect to their slant, is an example. The Brett Baier show, a decent hour of news, is indicative. Each night Mr. Baier has a segment “Outside the Beltway.” Typically this lasts for about a minute!

The press views Beltway denizens as heroes. The rest of the country views them as crooks who exploit hard-working citizens. Is our media so self-consumed with themselves and their relationships with this Mafia that they do not understand? Or is it just easier to ignore real reporting and analysis because it is too hard and too dangerous to the power structure. The phony intellectuals in the media would not want to be banned from the choice cocktail parties! Or, God forbid, be Suicided!

The political class does not realize how much they are hated by the “unwashed masses.” Nor does the media who diminish themselves by being Mafia lapdogs.

I am also offended by the blatant references to the Catholic religion among our sports team names. Totally inappropriate to have the New Orleans Saints, the Los Angeles Angels or the San Diego Padres.

Then there are the team names that glorify criminals who raped and pillaged. We are talking about the horrible Oakland Raiders, the Minnesota Vikings, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Pittsburgh Pirates!

Now, let us address those teams that clearly send the wrong message to our children. The San Diego Chargers promote irresponsible fighting or even spending habits. Wrong message to our children.
